Analytics save lives in Mozambique

We love it when analytics is used for public benefit. And we love it even more when this is the result of a PhD project. This is what happened in Mozambique recently when three scholars presented the results of their PhD research. Their research involved the integration of data from various public sources, and the subsequent analysis of all collected data.

Their work led to some interesting insights such as the correlation between geographical location and mortality: the closer you live near the city the higher your chances of surviving your disease. But they also developed some improved methodologies to cope with public health data issues, which in turn led to the Ministry of Public Health improving the quality of their data. And which led to the foundation of better analytics in the future.

As analytics ambassadors, we are proud of the contribution that analytics makes to the public health and welfare in Mozambique. As Belgians, we are extra proud of the research team, which has worked in close collaboration with the Center for Statistics at UHasselt.
